THE MEMORIAL

The Memorial is currently in the planning and construction phase. Below is an architectual drawing of the Memorial. For a detailed version of the drawing in PDF format, click here.

The limestone wall represents the remains of buildings following the devastation of war. The shape of the wall, a semi-circle, represents arms enclosing and protecting those who enter.

The six large stones represent sentinels that stand guard and protect all persons who enter into this Memorial. A special stone will be in place which will contain the names of those Killed In Action.

Six service flags behind the wall will honor the six branches of service: Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force, Merchant Marine and Coast Guard. A flag to the west of the service flags is the Missing In Action Flag and POW and is set apart to remind us that those service persons will not be returning.

The landscaping in front of the wall is the promise of hope and re-birth each spring.

The Walk of Honor which will include engraved paving stones honoring spouses, fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters, neighbors, and friends will line the sides of the walkways.

Memorial Plan

The Memorial will be located at Greenwood Cemetery in River Falls, WI.
